This hunter was a project for me. I'm a big fan of hunting and wanted an all around good camp knife with the finesse of a cutter. This is what I came up with. It's made from D2 steel. The higher carbon content of D2 lends itself to a much greater edge retention ability. Though the chromium content makes it closer to stainless than 1095.. it's still not stainless which is fine for me. It is a longer blade with a drop point tip. The upper edge is tapered in to the tip. Becuse of this, the knife it not to be used for heavy tasks like batoning. I like the drop point because it allows me to use the full edge without a big rocking motion. I will be making another for skinning because this design isn't idea for a "skinning motion" due to the limited curve from the flat of the blade to the tip. It has black linen micarta scales with stainless pins and tubing. The heat and cryo treat were completed by Texas Knife Maker. I made a custom kydex sheath that can be worn both vertically and horizontally from a satin .090 Kydex.
