I was contracted to make "Big C" for a hunting buddy of mine. He wanted something that could be abused and versatile. It is made from a 3/16 thick D2 steel. I chose D2 for it's edge retention properties. It has a relatively deep hollow grind that provided a razor sharp edge profile and a nice thick spine. Because of the grind it's not idea for things like batoning but will be a great all around camp knife and skinner. The blade profile will allow for many resharpenings without the worry of having to regrind the blade. The handles are made from Black G10 scales and the finish (including handles) was blasted with a mix of light bead and fine aluminum oxide. It provides a nice non-reflective matte finish and brings out the striping in the scales. The pins and tube are all stainless. The sheath is .90 kydex and can be worn both vertically and horizontally. The heat and cryo treat was outsourced to Texas knife makers. We were both really happy with the way it turned out.
